Go on Offense
Here are the steps you can take when the Internet waters get rough:
- Learn more about using the Internet through the “Keys to Safety” program: Call the Outreach Division of the Arkansas Attorney General’s Office, (501) 682-1020 or 1-800-448-3014.
- If you have problems with a transaction and can’t work it out with the online seller or the operator of the Internet shopping site, contact the consumer protection division of the Arkansas Attorney General’s Office: www.arkansasag.gov/consumers_tips_file_complaint.html.
- If you suspect you have been the victim of investment fraud online, send your complaint to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, using the agency’s Online Complaint Center: www.sec.gov/complaint.shtml. On, you can contact the Arkansas Securities Department, www.securities.arkansas.gov, at (501) 324-9260.
